Motion Blurs in the Korean Countryside
I just found these while working on some photos I took during a short trip to Seoul in 2006. These were all taken from a bus window on the way to the airport. It is really fun to do, try setting your shutter speed to about 1/30th of a second while driving at freeway speed and shoot straight out the window. The closer objects will be more blurred like streaks of color while distant objects will retain some detail. They might be soft looking, especially if you are shooting through a window so you might want to add some color/contrast to the files in your digital darkroom. My favorite here is the first one, I have made some poster size prints and it looks beautiful on the wall. It is a railroad track, the second is a passing train and the third is the track with a cemetery behind.
See all of the photos in my Photoshelter gallery.

Happy New Year 2010
I want to say thanks to all of my readers/viewers for checking out Luminance Flux over the past year and I am sending warm wishes to you for 2010 and beyond! Knowing that you are out there reading this blog (all 6 and 1/2 of you) makes it all worth while to me.
On the last day of 2009 my wife and I went on a hike in the freezing rain and high winds to the place we were married up on a mountain ledge, it was amazing though our rain gear didn't really do it's job. Below is an iPhone photo of a large boulder in a spruce forest near the base of the mountain.
After midnight the strangest thing happened. We were getting gas and there was a guy filling up a super tiny motorcycle, like a clown bike or something. It was shiny gold and I swear not more than a foot tall. He got it started and sped off into traffic without lights or a helmet and within moments a King County sherrif's deputy did a quick u-turn and caught him! I don't think his decade started off too well.... Here is a vid of some of the action:
